I've been a step mum since 2013, had a son is 2017, and became a childminder in 2018.
When I first became a mum, I really wanted to get back to exercise but didn't know where to start; what I really needed was mum and baby exercise classes, and this is where strong.mum.crew was born!
I love enabling people to workout with children in tow!
I look after up to 12 children every day, and my life has become a juggle of fitting everything in.
Exercise is my happy place, whether its a hard HIIT workout or some stretching, I work it into my daily life. Even if that only means taking my dog for a long walk first thing, it rebalances me and sets me up for my busy days.
I'm passionate about finding a community of likeminded people, making new habits and changing your mindset for the long term. I believe all bodies are fit bodies, no matter the size and shape.
I've been a qualified personal trainer for over 20 years, with specialisations in pre and post natal, injury care and perimenopause and menopause.
Being a carer takes as much mental strength as it does physical, and this is a big focus for what I do. Allowing people to workout with children brings me such joy!
Being a parent is the hardest job in the world. It can be the most rewarding at times, but let’s face it; sleep deprivation, tantrums, kids refusing the lovely colourful food you’ve slaved over for them in favour of fishfingers (again) is soul destroying!
I’m definitely a realist when it comes to this and having been a carer to my own and many other families for years, nothing is off limits!
You name it, and between us all, we’ve probably experienced it! We are here to listen. So why not come along and join our mum and baby exercise
My favourite saying is “Comparison is the thief of joy” and the reason I think it resonates so much is because for as long as I remember I have been ultra competitive, but often competing by comparing myself to people I meet, those I see in the media, or worst of all, a younger version of myself.
I’m not sure I will ever love my body (but who knows) but I sure do appreciate it and everything it has done for me. I will never openly criticise myself, to myself again, but most of all, I will never do it in front of a child, because we are their role models and why would we ever want our children growing up in a beauty obsessed world with impossible standards that can't be achieved!
I want to share this message and how, after years of dieting and negative body image, I have gotten to a place where I am confident to wear what I want, when I want.
